Hand-Knottted Rugs
Hand-knotting is a skill that has been passed down from artisan to apprentice for centuries. To ensure our artisans don’t have to travel to find work, we set up looms in artisans’ home villages, keeping families intact for the months it takes to complete a hand-knotted rug. Weavers create the rugs by hand-tying upwards of one million knots per rug, working collaboratively on larger rugs. Some villages are legendary for their artisans’ skill with particular knotting techniques, which is why we seek the skills of these artisans to craft designs that require specialized talents.
